There are multitudes calling for a patriotic resurgence to take back the reigns of the country. But even where there is action - there seems very little result; at least on any grand scale. The tiny victories are in our personal lives.

He addresses the true problem, indeed:
"[...] Capitalism, as we practice it today, has become a brain disorder spreading like a plague around the world."

My fear, is that there is no way to sufficiently quell the voracious appetites of the leading 'civilized' nations - nor the up-n-coming hunger of developing nations - who strive to be 'like us'.

As Truskoff also states:
"I am very doubtful about the future of the human animal."

Such cynicism leaves us hopeless, eh?

Saving some miraculous technological advances that can propel us swiftly into some golden future - the only answer to save us seems a near abandonment of our current notion of civilization.

They say - 'we cannot sit blindly by when there is so much to be done'.
Yet that is exactly what me must do.

Stop and listen. Simplify. Think and breathe and be.

One of the books that I've found helpful in identifying our modern dilemma is Beyond Civilization by Daniel Quinn.

Brave on.

i will definitely look into your suggested reading...but something about this existential live-and-let-die style philosophy doesn't bode with me well. it seems too much like the thinking man's cop out--a great way to accept one's class status and still have a "conscience." yes i have little faith in humanity--consciousness, on the other hand....

i believe the only true path toward a new a beautiful world is carved by the exchange of creative ideas. every single person who reads this journal has the capacity to write, snap pictures, give speeches, teach those who are denied the privilege of "higher education."

i have chosen the pen and the mic--let's see if i can contribute anything worthwhile.
